The plant: origin
Sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua L.) belongs to the Asteraceae family. Native to the temperate regions of Asia, it has been known for centuries in traditional Chinese pharmacopoeia under the name qinghao. Its taste is herbaceous and bitter: diluting it in fruit juice makes it more pleasant. Not to be confused with common mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), a different species.
